Recently, the Columbus™ 3D EP Navigation System developed by Shanghai MicroPort EP MedTech Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "MicroPort EP") successfully completed its first 3D ablation procedures at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, UK. This milestone marks the official entry of the Columbus™ 3D EP Navigation System into the commercial application phase in the UK market.

As a strategic hub in the global electrophysiology field, the UK market is renowned for its stringent clinical standards and high threshold for expert acceptance. This is particularly true for the Royal Brompton Hospital, where the system was deployed, which is internationally recognized as a leading cardiac center.

The procedures were led by the team of renowned electrophysiology expert Prof. Dr. Sabine Ernst. Utilizing the Columbus™ 3D EP Navigation System along with supporting products including the FireMagic™ TrueForce™ Ablation Catheter, EasyLoop™ 3D Circular Mapping Catheter, and PathBuilder™ Transseptal Guiding Introducer, the team successfully performed precise ablation therapy for multiple patients with atrial arrhythmias.

During these atrial fibrillation procedures, Prof. Dr. Sabine Ernst's team first performed 3D structural reconstruction of the aorta and left/right atria based on CT scans. Guided by the FireMagic™ TrueForce™ Ablation Catheter, they completed right atrial mapping to comprehensively understand the patient's cardiac anatomy. Subsequently, transseptal puncture was successfully performed under TEE monitoring and with the guidance of the PathBuilder™ Transseptal Guiding Introducer. Upon entering the left atrium, using the CT images as a 3D modeling reference, the physician performed high-precision mapping with the EasyLoop™ 3D Circular Mapping Catheter, accurately identifying the pulmonary vein ostia. This was combined with the FireMagic™ TrueForce™ Ablation Catheter to further refine the left atrial model.

In the subsequent ablation phase, Prof. Dr. Sabine Ernst used the FireMagic™ TrueForce™ Ablation Catheter to perform point-by-point pulmonary vein ablation. Thanks to the catheter's excellent steering capabilities, target areas were reached quickly and accurately, with overall operation being smooth and efficient. Radiofrequency energy delivery remained stable, rapid, and precise throughout the ablation process. Ultimately, successful electrical isolation of the pulmonary veins was achieved, confirmed to result in durable and effective PVI ablation.

Post-procedure, Prof. Dr. Sabine Ernst spoke highly of the system's performance. She noted that the deep integration of the Columbus™ 3D EP Navigation System with CT images allowed for a more precise understanding of the patient's cardiac anatomy, significantly improving modeling efficiency and ablation accuracy. Especially in complex cases, this contributes to further enhancing the overall safety and controllability of the procedure.

The Columbus™ 3D EP Navigation System integrates magneto-electric positioning with electrophysiological data to achieve real-time 3D cardiac mapping. When used with the FireMagic™ TrueForce™ Ablation Catheter, the system can display real-time contact force and direction between the catheter tip and tissue, providing operators with more comprehensive and precise reference information. Additionally, the system's EI (Effectiveness Index) can help predict ablation lesion depth in real-time, improving procedural safety and effectiveness.

This successful application not only represents a significant step in the global commercialization of the Columbus™ 3D EP Navigation System but also signifies another crucial validation of a domestically developed 3D system in the high-end medical market. Currently, MicroPort EP's products have been exported to over 30 countries and regions, including France, Italy, Brazil, and Argentina. Moving forward, MicroPort EP remains committed to introducing more high-quality, innovative high-end medical device products to international markets, providing patients and physicians with more comprehensive products and professional services, and delivering globally competitive integrated electrophysiology interventional diagnosis and treatment solutions.
